Trees Inc., a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation, was created by a group of Pottstown civic leaders in 1983 to raise funds to beautify the borough with new street trees. During a four-year fundraising campaign from 1983 to 1988 sponsored by the Pottstown Mercury, the group raised $470,000 to plant and maintain street trees.

Pottstown’s Shade Tree Ordinance assigns responsibility for the planting and maintenance of street trees to adjacent property owners, But during the last 20 years, with permission from Pottstown Council and Pottstown’s Shade Tree Commission, Trees Inc. has planted more than 2,500 street trees, including replacement trees, and performed routine maintenance on the borough’s 3,400 street trees.

Trees Inc. is a volunteer organization. There is no paid staff. There is no overhead or administrative expense. All funds go toward contracted services.
