MAINTENANCE MAPS Under Pottstown’s Shade Tree Ordinance, first adopted in 1954, adjacent property owners are responsible for the care and maintenance of street trees. However, as a public service, Trees Inc. tries to perform routine maintenance on Pottstown’s street trees, although trees remain the legal responsibility of the property owner. In the interests of efficiency, Trees Inc. has mapped out ten maintenance areas. These areas are designed to allow arborists contracted by Trees Inc. to trim trees in an efficient and economical way. The trees are trimmed in cycles in the hopes that the trees in every area can be trimmed at least once every five or six years. There are 10 maintenance zones. Click on the links below to view each area. Streets marked with the heavy green line indicate the trees maintained in that zone.
Zone 1- High Street (about 350 trees) Zone 2- Chestnut, Walnut and Beech Streets (about 340 trees) Zone 3- Charlotte Street (about 200 trees) Zone 4- King Street (about 200 trees) Zone 5- Hanover Street (about 85 trees) Zone 6- Queen Street (about 90 trees) Zone 7- York and numbered streets (about 210 trees) Zone 8- South Side- South, Cherry, Laurel & side streets (about 215 trees) Zone 10- Overlay for Callery Pear Trees (about 180 trees)
