PARKS
Beech and Charlotte Streets Park
In 1998, a former gas station was demolished by its owner and the quarter-acre tract at Beech and Charlotte Streets was donated to Preservation Pottstown for use as a passive park. Thanks to a $50,000 donation from a benefactor who wished to remain anonymous, the land was cleaned up, clean fill was added, and 35 red maple trees were planted. The
park provides a “green island” in a densely populated area that absorbs rainwater and removes noxious gases from the air.
In 2004, Trees Inc. agreed to maintain the park and in 2007, took ownership of the park.
Potts Burial Ground
John Potts, founder of Pottstown, is buried in a family burial ground at Penn and Chestnut Streets. It is the oldest historic site in Pottstown. Trees Inc. performs occasional maintenance in the cemetery.
